Thank you

In April, I applied to join a group of inspirational people who will do something life changing for others. Connecting HR Africa. These phenomenal people, who I am so proud to be joining, head out to Uganda volunteering for 8 days to work with Retrak charity who believe that no child should be forced to live on the streets.

We have all applied for our own reasons but the one thing that brings all together is that, collectively, we will make a difference. It might be a huge change to someone’s life, it might be a small gesture, a conversation, a game, to just be there and listen. One thing is for sure, we will make a difference; before we go, whilst we are there and when we get back.

With 6 weeks to go before we depart, I want to thank each and every one of you who have donated, offered words of encouragement, counsel, support, shares of this blog, my tweets and Facebook page.

I have had a few wobbles, and experienced a range of emotions, since being given the great news that I had been offered a place on the team. Joy, excitement, apprehension, nervousness, intrigue, determination, sadness, anger, humbleness, fear, appreciation and love.

I’ll be a wreck by the time I get back but I will have learned so much and will share my experience with everyone.

I am certain of one thing. I am truly grateful to have you in my life. Without you all, I may not have even applied. Without you all, I may have realised just how great the challenge ahead would be, the almost impossible task of fundraising, whilst juggling a new business, usual day to day stuff and quit. Continuing with, in comparison, my easy life. Without you all, I wouldn’t be 42% of the way there with my fundraising. Without you all, I wouldn’t be able to make a difference in this way.

Thank you.
